Dr. Yih-jye Hwang

Introduction

Dr. Yih-jye Hwang has recently been appointed by MEARC as a Post-Doc Research Fellow. This MEARC PostDoc position is made possible with the generous support of LUF (Leiden University Fund).

In May 2008, Dr. Hwang came to Leiden when he was the first to received MEARC's Writing up Grant on 'Taiwan in Comparative East Asian Perspective' which was made possible with the support of the Taiwanese Ministry of Education. During his first year in Leiden, dr. Hwang transformed his PhD thesis 'The Birth of the 'Taiwanese': A Discursive Constitution of the 'Taiwanese' as a National Identity' into a book.

Dr. Hwang holds a PhD degree (Category A) in International Politics from the Department of International Politics, Aberystwyth University, Wales.
